9/30/2024: Welcome to the Birdhouse!
Abby's Musings:
We are open for business! Thank you to each and every one of you for supporting Birdhouse Books and Gifts as we celebrated our Grand Opening this weekend. Our kickoff event, a Rainbow Ribbon cutting with the Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce, followed by a champagne toast and open house, was a huge success! Honestly, I was overwhelmed by the joy and love surrounding me and the store that evening. It felt like a neighborhood party, which is exactly what we're going for here.
We followed that crazy night up with our first author event on Saturday, the launch of Greg Foley's new middle grade graphic novel Dex Dingo: World's Best Greatest Ever... Inventor! We had a great turnout of kids who were thoughtful listeners and question-askers, and who had awesome ideas for all the things Dex Dingo should try to be next! Kicking off our event programming with Greg was the perfect way to set the tone for the store as a place for kids and grown-ups to come together and be celebrated for exactly who they are and who they dream of being.
