Celebrating One Year serving our community!

Birdhouse Books and Gifts is a neighborhood, community-focused independent bookstore in central Austin, Texas. We are a queer-owned, veteran-owned, and woman-owned business (and all of those are the same person!). We are an indie bookshop focused on inclusivity, community, and welcoming. Our goal is for every person who walks through our doors to feel seen and a sense of belonging here.

Our selection is ever-expanding as we grow within our space. We've got a fun and beautiful kids and middle grade section, and features for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC authors, alongside new fiction and non-fiction for adults. Check back frequently because we are growing and changing every day!

We have always have full slate of events on the calendar, which are detailed below and updated here monthly. We hope to see you soon at the Birdhouse!

Dara Zycherman: Meaningful Minimalism:

How To Build An Aligned Life

Minimalism is so much more than a trend about stuff.

If you’re curious what it might look like to align your environment with your values and declutter not just your space, but your life, join author Dara Zycherman for an evening of thoughtful conversation around her book Meaningful Minimalism.

Dara will be in conversation with author and writing coach Sarah Welch to discuss her approach to minimalism, the evolution of her business Less Equals More, and why she chose to write Meaningful Minimalism to help everyone—not just her one-on-one clients—build simpler, more intentional lives.

Purchase a copy of Meaningful Minimalism with your RSVP or on-site to have it signed by the author at the event.
